Andhra Pradesh industries fleeing due to extortion allegations, claims YSRCP
The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) has alleged that industries are leaving Andhra Pradesh due to harassment and extortion demands by coalition leaders. Spokesperson Putta Sivasankar Reddy stated that the industrial sector has entered a crisis following the change in government, leading existing investors to relocate.
Specific projects cited include a Rs 6,675-crore Tata Power project that moved from Nellore to Odisha, and a Rs 3,538-crore Websol project that shifted from Naidupeta to West Bengal. The YSRCP also claimed the government reclaimed land previously allotted to Coca-Cola in Anakapalli and Azad Mobility in Sri Sathya Sai district.
Furthermore, the party alleged that cement and thermal industries in the Rayalaseema region, including companies like UltraTech and Dalmia Cements, are facing intimidation from coalition leaders seeking contracts. The YSRCP noted that Andhra Pradesh's Ease of Doing Business ranking has fallen from first to eighth place.
