Andhra Pradesh investment claims questioned after Tata Power moves to Odisha

YSRCP legislator Mondithoka Arun Kumar said Tata Power's decision to shift its proposed Rs 6,675‑crore investment from Andhra Pradesh to Odisha reveals a "cash for doing business" culture in the state. He challenged the government’s claim of promoting speed of business, arguing that major firms now have to pay to operate.

Kumar also disputed the state's reported Rs 23 lakh‑crore of secured investments and the promise of 20 lakh jobs, citing Union data that shows only about Rs 6,500 crore actually invested and 22,167 jobs created. He listed other firms that have withdrawn or relocated – Hindustan Coca‑Cola Beverages, Azad India Mobility, GINFRA, Jupiter Renewables – estimating that nearly Rs 12,890 crore of projects have left the state. He called for an independent committee to investigate the exits, demanded full disclosure of investment details, and highlighted a decline in state GST collections as further evidence of a credibility gap.
