Andhra Pradesh liquor scam suspect seeks surrender in Vijayawada court

Accused Saif Ahmed, identified as number 10 and a close aide of Kesireddy Rajasekhar Reddy (also known as Raj Kesireddy), filed a petition in the ACB Court in Vijayawada to obtain permission to surrender. The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which has already arrested 17 people in the multi‑crore liquor transportation scam, is expected to take Ahmed into custody for questioning.

The Supreme Court upheld the Telangana High Court’s rejection of former minister Karumuri Venkata Nageswara Rao’s anticipatory bail petition related to the same case. The investigation concerns alleged manipulation of the Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation (APSBCL) liquor‑transport tender process between 2020 and 2024. Earlier, the SIT transferred three key accused—former APSBCL managing director Donthireddy Vasudeva Reddy, Raj Kesireddy, and Karumuri Sunil—from Chanchalguda Central Jail to Vijayawada for further interrogation, after which they were ordered to judicial custody for two weeks.
