Andi President Bruce Mac Master defends association autonomy
Bruce Mac Master, president of the National Association of Businessmen of Colombia (Andi), has issued an institutional statement calling for an end to what he described as a “systematic campaign of malicious actions” intended to damage the organization's reputation.
Mac Master emphasized that the Andi is a collective institution with 82 years of history, asserting that its strength transcends individual leadership or current political tensions. He stressed the importance of safeguarding the technical independence and autonomy of the association against external pressures, noting that the entity has historically maintained a respectful working relationship with various government administrations.
The statement, backed by more than 1,600 affiliated companies, calls for respect regarding the constitutional right of entrepreneurs to associate freely and make corporate decisions without situational pressure. This response follows reports of sector frictions and alleged attempts to influence leadership and business chamber dynamics within the country.
