Andorra-la Seu d'Urgell Airport launches tender for Paris routes

The Government of Andorra has approved the terms for a new international tender to consolidate and expand regular air connections from the Andorra-la Seu d'Urgell Airport. The tender aims to maintain existing routes to Madrid and Palma de Mallorca while introducing a new connection to Paris, with a preference for Charles de Gaulle or Orly airports.

Interested airlines must submit proposals by September 7. The goal is to have a new operator signed and operational by January 1, 2027, following the conclusion of the current contract with Air Nostrum on December 31, 2024. The tender sets a minimum requirement of 1,400 flight hours annually and specifies that aircraft must be of the ATR type or similar, with a minimum capacity of 48 seats.

The government has established a maximum annual budget of 5 million euros to guarantee these lines. This funding will be paid quarterly based on specific criteria, including the number of flights, proposed routes, and ticket prices. The expansion is viewed as a strategic move to improve the country's external connectivity and leverage increasing passenger numbers at the airport.
