Andorra la Vella modernizes water pumping system at communal stadium
The government of Andorra la Vella has commissioned a new pumping system at the Joan Samarra Vila Communal Stadium to modernize its water supply infrastructure. The project replaces equipment that was over 20 years old and had suffered significant wear.
The new system is a critical upgrade, as this specific site provides up to 50% of the drinking water consumed in the parish. The works cost approximately 428,140 euros and include the installation of a more energy-efficient pumping group designed to move water from the stadium wells to the Escaubelles reservoirs.
The technical setup consists of four active pumps and one backup pump, all equipped with frequency inverters to adjust to water demand and reduce energy consumption. Additionally, the project involved upgrading management and remote management systems for real-time monitoring, replacing control panels, renewing power and control cabling, and adding new safety elements. Local municipal workers performed several stages of the work, including the removal of old equipment and space adaptation.
