Andorra pledges 175,000 euros for child protection in Central African Republic

The Government of Andorra has formalized a cooperation agreement to provide 175,000 euros over four years to support a project in the Central African Republic. Managed in collaboration with the National Committee of Andorra for UNICEF, the initiative aims to protect and facilitate the social and family reintegration of children affected by violence and armed conflict.

The funding will be distributed as 40,000 euros in the first year, followed by 45,000 euros annually for the remaining three years. UNICEF Andorra, including the government's contribution, will provide a total of 400,000 euros for the project. The program intends to directly assist 400 children—comprising 120 girls and 280 boys—who are currently associated with or at risk of recruitment by armed groups.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Imma Tor stated that the project aligns with Andorra’s international cooperation priorities and human rights defense. The initiative addresses a critical humanitarian situation in the Central African Republic, where decades of conflict have left many children vulnerable to recruitment by armed factions.
