André Cury sues Atlético-MG shareholder for R$ 46 million

Football agent André Cury has filed a lawsuit seeking approximately R$ 46.6 million from Rubens Menin, a major shareholder of Atlético-MG’s SAF (Sociedade Anônima do Futebol). The legal action stems from a breach of a 2023 agreement intended to settle debts owed by the club.

The original debt, related to unpaid commissions from various player transfers including Luan, Lucas Pratto, and Guilherme Arana, was reportedly around R$ 70.3 million. A settlement was reached to reduce this amount to R$ 56.64 million, payable in 36 installments. However, Cury alleges that Atlético-MG failed to meet several payment deadlines, thereby voiding the discount provided in the agreement.

Because Menin acted as a third-party guarantor in the settlement, Cury is now pursuing him directly for the updated balance, which stands at R$ 46,630,410.28 after accounting for previous payments. The lawsuit requests that Menin settle the debt within three days or face the freezing of his assets and accounts, in addition to a 10% attorney fee.
