André Esteves meets Donald Trump in the United States

André Esteves, owner of BTG Pactual, met with U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington for approximately 45 minutes. The meeting, which included White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, focused on gathering insights regarding Brazil and Latin America, as well as discussing economic opportunities in sectors such as energy, rare minerals, and data centers.

This meeting follows a recent telephone conversation between President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Donald Trump, which signaled a potential thawing of diplomatic and commercial relations between the two nations. The dialogue comes amid ongoing negotiations to resolve trade tensions, specifically regarding high tariffs on certain Brazilian products that have reached up to 37.5%.

Esteves has maintained communication with both sides of the Brazilian political spectrum, having recently met with Senator Flávio Bolsonaro and scheduled a meeting with President Lula. The banker informed the Brazilian government of his meeting with Trump prior to his return to Brazil.
