André Kuper visits Auschwitz-Birkenau for Holocaust remembrance
André Kuper, President of the Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia, has begun a three-day visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau former concentration and extermination camp. Accompanied by three youth groups, Kuper aims to promote Holocaust remembrance and engage with young people aged 16 to 25 from Germany and Poland participating in a human rights project.
The visit coincides with the 40th anniversary of the international youth meeting center in Auschwitz. A secondary focus of the trip involves the preservation and handling of over 600 personal documents belonging to Holocaust victims.
