André Mendonça appointed STF relator for Bolsonaro film financing probe

Brazil's Supreme Court president Edson Fachin appointed Justice André Mendonça as the relator for a criminal investigation into payments made by banker Daniel Vorcaro to fund the biographical film “Dark Horse,” which depicts former President Jair Bolsonaro. The probe follows a news‑crime filed by deputy Lindbergh Farias, alleging that money negotiated for the film may have been diverted to finance Eduardo Bolsonaro’s international activities. The case, previously overseen by Justice Alexandre de Moraes, was transferred to Mendonça after the Prosecutor General’s office recommended it. The STF classified the investigation as secrecy level 3 while the relator examines the allegations, which also involve Flávio Bolsonaro. The outcome could lead to a Federal Police inquiry into possible misuse of funds.
