André Ventura Office Invasion Spurs Livre Ban Call

Portugal's Livre party demanded that anyone responsible for the alleged invasion of Chega leader André Ventura's parliamentary office be barred from any association with the Assembly of the Republic. Deputy Rui Tavares said the incident was “grave” and unprecedented in decades of democracy, urging political conclusions alongside the judicial investigation. He announced he will ask the Assembly’s Administrative Council to clarify whether rules on cabinet door closures were in force at the time of the incident.

Chega released a video claiming the office was broken into and documents related to a parliamentary inquiry and the prime minister’s cabinet went missing. Police (PJ) conducted investigations at the site. Livre called for a ban on any deputy, staff member, or employee involved, stating that the victim is democracy itself.
