Brazil schools suspend classes due to skin disease outbreaks

Authorities in Brazil are investigating skin disease outbreaks in two different regions. In Andradas, Minas Gerais, the State Health Department confirmed 11 cases of scabies (human itch) linked to a municipal daycare, with 19 total notifications. The local government suspended classes at the facility to conduct disinfection and monitoring.

In Brodowski, São Paulo, the municipal government has suspended classes across the entire school network until October 5 following reports of unspecified dermatological manifestations in children and adults. Symptoms include red spots, intense itching, and fever. While a specific diagnosis has not been confirmed, health officials have established a situation room and increased medical staff to investigate. Samples have been sent to the Instituto Adolfo Lutz for analysis to determine if the cause is scabies, measles, or another condition.
