Former Grand Slam champions Andre Agassi, Caroline Wozniacki, James Blake and former world No. 5 Eugenie Bouchard played a series of exhibition matches on a temporary grass court installed at Wollman Rink in New York’s Central Park on June 26. The court’s turf was grown in New Jersey and overseen by All England Lawn Tennis Club agronomist Mark Ferguson. The quartet staged singles exhibitions before teaming up for mixed doubles, giving New York fans a taste of Wimbledon ahead of the tournament’s start.

During the event the players talked about Serena Williams’s planned Wimbledon return after a four‑year singles hiatus, with Wozniacki saying, “I’m very excited to see her back.” Bouchard called the prospect “bonkers – in a good way.” A separate Ralph Lauren‑hosted conversation in Manhattan featured the same four players discussing memorable matches, superstitions and the feel of playing on grass.

The pop‑up event highlighted the sport’s heritage and generated buzz for the upcoming Wimbledon Championships.
