Andre Höflich retires from snowboarding and joins Bundeswehr as trainer
Andre Höflich, Germany's leading half‑pipe snowboarder, announced his retirement from elite competition after three severe cruciate‑ ligament injuries, the latest suffered in Laax, Switzerland. He had placed eighth at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, the best result for a German in the discipline. Since ending his athletic career, Höflich will work as a physical‑performance trainer for the Bundeswehr’s sports‑promotion group in Sonthofen, a unit that supported his training during his competitive years.
The German snowboarding federation praised his achievements and noted his transition reflects a continued commitment to the sport through coaching and military sport development.
