André Onana escapes injury in multi-vehicle car crash in Turkey

Trabzonspor goalkeeper André Onana and his family were involved in a multi-vehicle chain-reaction accident in the Yomra district of Trabzon, Turkey, on Thursday night, October 22, 2026. The incident occurred while the 30-year-old Cameroonian international was driving home following Trabzonspor’s 2-0 UEFA Conference League victory over Hearts.

Reports indicate that Onana’s vehicle was struck from behind by another car traveling at high speed, which subsequently pushed his vehicle into the car ahead. Despite the impact and significant damage to the vehicles, Onana and his family members were reported to be unhurt.

Onana was taken to a local hospital for precautionary medical examinations and was discharged shortly after. Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan confirmed the player's safety, stating, “There are no problems with him, and we wish him a speedy recovery.” It remains uncertain if the goalkeeper will be available for Trabzonspor’s upcoming match against Çaykur Rizespor on Monday.
