André Ventura leads Portuguese polls for Prime Minister

A recent poll conducted by Intercampus indicates that André Ventura, leader of the right-wing populist party Chega, has become the most preferred candidate for Prime Minister of Portugal. Ventura secured 28.4 percent of the respondents' support, marking an increase of nearly five percentage points since July.

Ventura's party, Chega, recently achieved a historic result in parliamentary elections by winning 60 seats, breaking the long-standing dominance of socialist and social democratic forces in the country. The poll places Ventura ahead of the current Prime Minister, Luis Montenegro, leader of the center-right Democratic Alliance (AD), who received 25.8 percent support.
