Stormers strengthen scrumhalf depth with Pead and Warner signings
The DHL Stormers have bolstered their scrumhalf options ahead of the 2026/27 United Rugby Championship season with two key signings.
Experienced 32-year-old scrumhalf Andre Warner has joined the club on a six-month loan from the Seattle Seawolves. The move is facilitated by a partnership between the two clubs. Director of Rugby John Dobson noted that Warner’s professionalism and experience will be vital in addressing recent injuries in the position and assisting the development of younger players.
Additionally, the Stormers have secured a four-year contract with Haashim Pead, who joins from the Lions. Pead, the 2025 World Rugby Junior World Championship Player of the Tournament, returns to his hometown of Cape Town. The signing is part of the club’s long-term 'Project 2029' vision. Pead is expected to be available for selection following the team’s upcoming tour to Ireland and Scotland.
