Andrea Accorsi to run 815 km across Italy for rare disease research
Ultrarunner Andrea Accorsi has launched ‘Connect 4 long way,’ an 815-kilometer endurance challenge spanning the Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany regions of Italy. The journey, supported by the Municipality of Modena, follows four historical routes: Via degli Dei, Via della Lana e della Seta, Via Francigena, and Via Vandelli.
The expedition traverses the Apennines and the Apuan Alps, passing through 47 municipalities. The itinerary includes 603 kilometers of running and 212 kilometers of cycling, with a total elevation gain exceeding 25,000 meters. Accorsi aims to complete the trek within a maximum of 11 days.
Beyond the athletic feat, the project serves a charitable purpose. Funds raised during the event will be donated to the National Association of Rare Diseases (ANMR) Onlus to support research and assistance for patients suffering from Cdk5 syndrome, a rare disease.
