Andrea Chávez faces scrutiny over brother's Liconsa irregularities

Senator Andrea Chávez’s potential 2027 candidacy for the governorship of Chihuahua faces scrutiny following allegations of financial irregularities involving her brother, Gregorio Chávez Treviño.

The Federal Auditor's Office (ASF) identified approximately 45 million pesos in uncleared operations during Gregorio Chávez’s tenure as the state manager for Liconsa in Chihuahua. Key findings from the 2023 Public Account include payments exceeding one million pesos made to two suppliers who were deceased at the time of the transactions.

Additionally, the audit noted resources were allegedly distributed to producers who did not meet established requirements, alongside milk collection and transport operations that lacked proper accreditation. These administrative findings pose a challenge to the senator's political consolidation efforts.
