Eastman was a significant figure in the ‘New Hollywood’ era, known for her ability to identify breakout talent. Her casting work included the iconic film ‘The Godfather’, where she worked with Francis Ford Coppola to secure Al Pacino for the role of Michael Corleone and James Caan for Sonny Corleone. She also oversaw the casting for ‘Love Story’, which launched the careers of Ali MacGraw and Tommy Lee Jones, and ‘Goodbye, Columbus’.

Beyond casting, Eastman was a highly successful agent, serving as a senior vice president at International Creative Management (ICM) and working with stars such as Sylvester Stallone, Richard Gere, and Barbra Streisand. In her later years, she was an advocate for animal welfare, establishing a sanctuary for rescued animals and partnering with Robert Redford to support California’s Proposition 6, which outlawed the slaughter of horses.
