Kristijan Golubović faces criminal charge over alleged dog killing in Serbia

An animal‑rights association filed a criminal complaint on 27 July 2026 with the Basic Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade, accusing former farmer Kristijan Golubović of brutally abusing and killing a pet dog. The complaint cites publicly released video footage, statements and other evidence and calls for witness interviews, forensic analysis of digital devices and a prompt, impartial investigation.

The allegations have sparked widespread public outrage in Serbia. Television network owner Željko Mitrović announced the suspension of Golubović and his partner Kristina Spalević from all upcoming projects, condemning animal cruelty. Golubović later posted a livestream showing a new Chihuahua named Koko – the same name as the deceased animal – and released a recorded conversation with a veterinarian asserting the dog had neurological problems, not injuries caused by him.

Commentator Filip Car has publicly criticized both Golubović and Spalević, accusing them of covering up the incident and bearing responsibility for the animal’s death. The case continues to attract media attention and calls for legal action.
