Andrea Holguín dies after Boyacá traffic crash, driver still at large

Andrea Holguín, a young motorcyclist from the Boyacá department of Colombia, was severely injured in a crash on July 25 on the road linking Sogamoso and Aquitania. She and her husband were riding a motorcycle when they collided with a turbo‑type vehicle. The impact caused life‑threatening injuries and she was rushed to a higher‑level hospital in Tunja, where she remained in intensive care for several days.

Holguín died on the afternoon of July 28 after the injuries proved fatal. According to family statements, the vehicle involved fled the scene but was later found in a parking lot south of Sogamoso. Authorities have not yet released an official statement on the circumstances or any possible traffic violations, and the investigation continues. The community has expressed condolences and called for a swift clarification of responsibility.
