Andrea Johnson and Feroz Khan arrested in South Africa
Former head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), Advocate Andrea Johnson, and former Crime Intelligence Major-General Feroz Khan have been arrested and appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court.
The arrests are connected to allegations of defeating the ends of justice regarding a 2018 assault case involving Brigadier Leonora Phetlhe. Investigators allege that Johnson, a former National Prosecuting Authority employee, interfered with the case by providing Khan with confidential information from the police docket. This allegedly allowed Khan to review Phetlhe’s version of events before preparing his own warning statement, potentially giving him an advantage in the investigation.
Both individuals were granted R10,000 bail. Johnson has been ordered to surrender her passport. The case has been postponed to 2 February 2027 as investigations continue, and authorities have not ruled out further arrests.
