The long‑running German live‑show ZDF‑Fernsehgarten, hosted by Andrea Kiewel, is celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2026. However, the programme will not air on 9 August 2026 because the broadcaster has scheduled an open‑air edition of the Giovanni Zarrella Show on the same venue, the Mainzer Lerchenberg, the day before.

In a recent broadcast of the show’s “Family Battle” special, Kiewel shared a light‑hearted story about her 24‑year‑old son, who as a child wrote in a school essay that “my mum works at the pool,” referring to the programme’s pool‑side set. The anecdote illustrated the family’s normal upbringing despite her public profile.

The August pause will be replaced with a quiz special marking the show’s anniversary, while the Giovanni Zarrella Show will feature guests such as Vanessa Mai, Kerstin Ott and Semino Rossi.
