Andrea Lorenzo Capussela to discuss innovation and freedom in Pisa

Andrea Lorenzo Capussela, a Fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science, will present his book, ‘The Republic of Innovation: A New Political Economy of Freedom’, at the Domus Mazziniana in Pisa on November 2, 2026.

The event, titled ‘Republic, Freedom, Innovation: A dialogue on the future of freedom in the age of innovation’, marks the launch of the ‘MAZZINI XXI – Democracy in Action’ series. Capussela will engage in a discussion with Fiammetta Cioè of the National Institute for Renaissance Studies and Alessandro Nuvolari from the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, with the debate coordinated by Pietro Finelli.

Capussela’s work critiques neoliberal conceptions of freedom as merely the absence of constraints. He argues that such views may inadvertently concentrate power among large technological platforms, economic elites, and employers, thereby limiting individual opportunity and hindering progress.
