Andrea Mazzon leaves Turkish Women's National Basketball Team

The Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF) has announced the departure of Italian head coach Andrea Mazzon from the Turkish Women's National Basketball Team. The decision follows the team's performance at the 2026 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup held in Berlin, Germany.

During the tournament, Turkey competed in Group C but failed to secure a victory, finishing at the bottom of the group after losing three matches. The team suffered defeats against Belgium (89-75), Australia (87-71), and Puerto Rico (75-71). While Mazzon had previously led the team to qualify for the finals by finishing third in the World Cup Qualifiers in Istanbul, the team was unable to replicate that success on the global stage.

The TBF issued a statement thanking Mazzon for his contributions and wishing him success in his future career. The federation has not yet announced a successor or a new technical structure for the national team.
