Andrea Parodi Prize: Angelica Perri wins major world music award

The 19th edition of the Andrea Parodi Prize, Italy’s premier world music competition, concluded in Cagliari. Angelica Perri emerged as the absolute winner, also receiving the Critics' Prize and the International Jury Mention. As part of her victory, Perri earned a 2,500 euro scholarship and opportunities to perform at various partner festivals in 2027.

The event held significant emotional weight, marking twenty years since the passing of the renowned Sardinian artist Andrea Parodi on October 17, 2006. The competition featured an international lineup and several technical awards, including Best Music for Momi and Best Arrangement for the Nubras Ensemble.

During the ceremonies, trumpeter Paolo Fresu was honored with the 2026 Albo d’Oro Prize. Fresu, who performed alongside Bebo Ferra and Pierpaolo Vacca, reflected on the profound musical legacy left by Parodi and the connection between their artistic paths.
