Andrea Scano Plays Piano During Wife's Labor at Oristano Hospital

Andrea Scano, a 34‑year‑old music professor from Santa Giusta, brought a piano into the obstetrics ward of San Martino Hospital in Oristano, Sardinia, and performed for about seven hours while his wife, Stefania Porcu, was in labor. He chose Yiruma’s "River Flows in You" and the music was heard by staff, other patients and their families, creating a calm atmosphere during a labor that lasted around 50 hours. The baby, Ginevra, was born while Scano continued to play, eventually using the piano to lull his newborn. Hospital administrators approved the unusual request, and doctors, nurses and fellow mothers reported being deeply moved by the performance.
