Andrea Sempio confined at home while defense builds psychological profile in Garlasco murder case
In the ongoing investigation of the Garlasco murder, 38‑year‑old Andrea Sempio, accused of killing Chiara Poggi, is being kept largely inside his home, effectively under house arrest. His friend and lawyer, Angela Taccia, describes his daily life as limited to his residence and occasional trips to work, noting that "Andrea è rassegnato, tranquillo non lo può essere" and that he "vive chiuso in casa, di fatto è già ai domiciliari."
Sempio’s defence team is conducting a multi‑faceted technical inquiry, including forensic audio analysis, anthropometric measurements, blood‑stain pattern assessment and fingerprint examination. Parallel to these efforts, a psychologist, psychotherapist and criminologist in Rome are providing intensive counselling to develop an alternative psychological profile to challenge the one produced by the investigative police unit (RAGIS). The defence expects the technical consultants to complete their work within two weeks, after which the gathered evidence will be reviewed further.
These activities aim to present a different interpretation of Sempio’s personality and the circumstances surrounding the murder, amidst intense media scrutiny and judicial pressure.
