Andrea Sempio disputes prosecution's theory in Chiara Poggi murder case

Andrea Sempio, an IT consultant under investigation for the murder of Chiara Poggi in Garlasco, has publicly challenged the prosecution's reconstruction of the crime. In recent interviews, Sempio described the current investigative narrative as “a story pulled by the hair,” arguing that the elements presented by the Pavia Prosecutor's Office do not hold up logically.

Sempio expressed a fear of being the victim of a judicial error, noting that while he saw no issues with the 2016 investigations that initially cleared him, the current findings are problematic. He specifically questioned the motive and the logic behind the prosecution's claims regarding his alleged obsession with the victim.

New evidence, including an environmental interception from April 2025, has been central to the reopened investigation. The audio reportedly captures a call to the Poggi residence, which prosecutors view as a significant piece of evidence. Sempio's defense maintains that the audio lacks proper context and could be misinterpreted.

Sempio's family has also spoken out. His mother, Daniela Ferrari, reiterated her belief in his innocence and expressed concern that the truth might not be sufficient to clear his name. His father, Giuseppe Sempio, is also involved in a separate investigation regarding corruption related to former lawyers.
