Andrea Sempio faces new forensic tests in Garlasco murder probe

The Pavia Prosecutor's Office has ordered two new scientific expert assessments in the investigation into the murder of Chiara Poggi in Garlasco. These assessments aim to clarify potential links between the sole suspect, Andrea Sempio, and the crime scene.

The first assessment involves genetic profiling. While previous findings suggested a genetic profile compatible with material found under the victim's fingernails, expert Denise Albani noted critical elements requiring further investigation. Geneticist Carlo Previderè has been tasked with deepening this analysis to confirm if the DNA can be definitively linked to the crime scene.

The second assessment focuses on a footprint found at the scene, specifically a shoe with a studded sole. Expert Cristina Cattaneo will verify if the measurements of Andrea Sempio's feet are compatible with this print. These findings are expected to be submitted by September 28.

Parallel to the forensic investigations, discussions have emerged regarding the potential evaluation of Sempio's social dangerousness. This involves determining whether there are concrete, recent, and legally relevant elements to suggest he might react aggressively under pressure, a process that must be weighed by judicial authorities within the broader context of the proceedings.
