Andrea Sempio faces potential trial in Chiara Poggi murder case

The Pavia Prosecutor's Office has concluded investigations into Andrea Sempio regarding the 2007 murder of Chiara Poggi in Garlasco. Prosecutors may request that Sempio be sent to trial, though he continues to deny all accusations.

New investigative elements have emerged concerning the original handling of evidence, including DNA on bicycle pedals, psychological evaluations, and the management of forensic traces such as palm prints and fingernail fragments. Sempio has contested technical findings, specifically disputing the attribution of a palm print and the sizing of a shoe print found at the scene.

Separately, the potential revision of Alberto Stasi's conviction remains a distinct matter. Forensic experts have conducted new research on Stasi's computer files, challenging previous technical reports regarding automated text corrections and the timing of digital activity. Experts noted that no illegal imagery was found on Stasi's device, despite previous investigative focus on his computer contents.
