Andrea Sorvetão fails to win federal deputy seat in Rio de Janeiro

Andrea Sorvetão, a Brazilian actress and former Paquita, failed to win a seat as a federal deputy for Rio de Janeiro in the recent elections. Running under the Democracia Cristã (DC) party, she received 2,529 votes, representing approximately 0.03% of the valid votes in the state.

According to her declaration to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Sorvetão reported assets totaling R$ 144,932, which included a one-third stake in an apartment valued at R$ 70,000 and a 99% share in a company valued at R$ 49,500.

The election result has also highlighted ongoing personal tensions between Sorvetão and presenter Xuxa Meneghel. João Lucas, Xuxa’s son-in-law, publicly mocked the electoral outcome on social media, adding to a history of friction between the families involving political differences and a legal dispute over property expenses.
