Andreas Pereira sent off in unusual Palmeiras match incident

During a Brasileirão match between Athletico Paranaense and Palmeiras at Arena da Baixada, Palmeiras midfielder Andreas Pereira was sent off following an unusual incident involving a second ball.

At the 42nd minute of the first half, while Athletico Paranaense had control of the ball, Andreas Pereira struck the active ball with another ball that had been thrown onto the pitch from the Palmeiras bench. Referee Paulo Cesar Zanovelli issued a yellow card for unsporting behavior, as interfering with play using an outside object is a punishable offense. Since Pereira had already received a previous yellow card, he was subsequently sent off.

At the time of the incident, Palmeiras held a 2-0 lead. The match is part of the 31st round of the Brazilian championship.
