Andrej Danko nominates Filip Kuffa for Environment Minister

Andrej Danko, leader of the Slovak National Party (SNS), has confirmed Filip Kuffa, the current State Secretary, as the party's nominee for the Minister of Environment. Kuffa is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Robert Fico on Monday, September 21, to discuss the position.

Danko clarified that he will not personally take the ministerial post, stating he is not an expert in environmental matters and intends to focus on upcoming parliamentary elections. The nomination follows a dispute regarding the departure of the previous minister, Tomáš Taraba.

During a radio discussion, Danko also expressed controversial views on governance, suggesting that democracy might not be the most effective tool for state management and proposing that a single political party with competing individuals might suffice. He criticized the idea of a large coalition between Smer and Progressive Slovakia, while KDH Vice-Chairman Viliam Karas warned that the removal of Taraba could leave the current government in a minority position.
