Andrej Danko rejects pre‑election alliances for Slovak National Party
Andrej Danko, chairman of the Slovak National Party (SNS), said the party will not form any alliances with other entities ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections. He announced that the party will undergo changes this autumn, though he gave no details. Danko emphasized that he will no longer tolerate “cowardly zoning, wire‑tapping or other matters unrelated to SNS.”
He noted past attempts to create pre‑election coalitions in 2023 and suggested that SNS will run in the next election only with its own members. In the previous election, the SNS list included independent figures such as sport minister Rudolf Huliak, environment minister Tomáš Taraba and culture minister Martina Šimkovičová. Danko also criticised the Slovak political system for allowing elected MPs to leave a party after the vote and called for reforms to prevent such defections.
