Plenković marks ten years as Croatian Prime Minister

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković is marking a decade in office, having first been elected by the Sabor on October 19, 2016. Reflecting on his tenure, Plenković highlighted a period characterized by managing crises and earthquake recovery alongside economic growth, increased credit ratings, and rising living standards.

He cited several strategic projects as transformative for Croatia, including the Pelješac Bridge, the acquisition of Rafale fighter jets, entry into the Schengen Area and the eurozone, the Učka tunnel, the Vc corridor, and the LNG terminal. He also emphasized increased investments in defense, security, and the modernization of police and firefighting services.

In recent statements, Plenković addressed political tensions within the ruling coalition. Responding to comments from Ivan Penava, leader of the Homeland Movement, Plenković affirmed the stability of the government and noted that he understands Penava’s political stance regarding the condemnation of totalitarian symbols. He also addressed regional development, participating in the first session of the Council for Local Development in Šibenik to promote equal opportunities across all Croatian municipalities.
