Andrej Ribič under investigation for alleged bribery of lawmaker

Slovenian authorities have conducted a house search at the residence of Andrej Ribič, a prominent member of the Gibanje Svoboda party and former chairman of Dars, following allegations of attempted bribery. Investigators are reportedly looking into claims that Ribič directed and supervised a project to bribe Aleksander Štorek, a lawmaker from the Resnična Slovenija party, to encourage his defection to Gibanje Svoboda.

The investigation is supported by a 27-page search warrant that cites call logs and SMS messages as evidence. These communications allegedly corroborate Štorek’s claims regarding attempts to influence the political coalition through offers of money, a house, and a car. One specific message from the late Dušan Konda, a former kayaking club president, reportedly discussed meeting with Štorek in relation to these matters.

Andrej Ribič has denied all allegations, describing the accusations as a “construct” and a lie. He maintains that the claims are politically motivated and baseless.
