Andrej Zhernovski warns of media control operation in North Macedonia

Andrej Zhernovski, Secretary for International Cooperation for SDSM, has raised alarms regarding a perceived operation to establish media control in North Macedonia. Zhernovski claims this process follows a model currently being implemented in Serbia under the direction of President Aleksandar Vučić.

He cited the recent sale of Adria News Network media outlets—including N1, Nova, Radar, Forbes Serbia, and Danas—to the investment group Alpac Capital as a key indicator. Zhernovski linked Alpac Capital to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, noting that the group previously acquired a majority stake in Euronews using funds from Hungarian state sources.

Zhernovski argued that these are not isolated business transactions but part of a broader project to consolidate control over the media landscape. He also pointed to the approval of the Hungarian company 4iG as a third mobile operator in North Macedonia as part of this expanding influence.
