Andrejs Danko questions democracy, suggests single-party model

Andrejs Danko, chairman of the Slovak National Party (SNS), has questioned the effectiveness of democracy, suggesting that a single political party might suffice for state administration. Speaking on Radio Slovensko, Danko remarked that while Western states demand democracy, it may not be the best tool, proposing instead a system where individuals compete within a single party to lead the state.

Viliam Karas, deputy chairman of KDH, criticized these views, noting that while a government dominated by two major parties might seem appealing, such a combination could be harmful to Slovakia due to conflicting values and programs. Karas emphasized the importance of maintaining political diversity and representing the parties chosen by voters through honest politics and clear programmatic goals.

The discussion also touched upon the stability of the current government. Karas suggested that the actions of the SNS could lead to the government becoming a minority administration, particularly if certain ministerial changes occur. Danko rejected these claims, defending the role of his party within the political landscape.
