Andrew achieves doctoral honors at ITS despite childhood poverty

Andrew, a 29-year-old computer science doctoral graduate from the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), achieved the distinction of summa cum laude under the guidance of Professor Priyo Suprobo.

Andrew’s academic success follows a difficult upbringing. After his father passed away in a traffic accident when Andrew was three, his mother worked various labor jobs, including climbing melinjo trees and processing the fruit, to support him. During his childhood, Andrew faced severe illness that resulted in significant medical debt for his mother, who eventually had to migrate to find work to settle those obligations.
