Andrew Bostom discusses Islamic law and security lessons 25 years after 9/11
Scholar Andrew Bostom discussed the ideological roots of terrorism and the state of American institutional awareness twenty-five years after the September 11 attacks. In a conversation with Elizabeth Farah, Bostom assessed the historical doctrines of jihad and Sharia, arguing that Western concepts of freedom remain fundamentally at odds with traditional Islamic law.
Bostom highlighted his research into mosque sermons, including investigations conducted following a 2025 terror attack in New Orleans. He addressed the role of academic apologetics in the study of Islam and discussed potential policy responses, such as a moratorium on Muslim immigration, to allow the United States to evaluate current security and social challenges.
