Andrew Garfield stops using AI after portraying Sam Altman

Actor Andrew Garfield has reportedly stopped using artificial intelligence tools following his preparation for the film ‘Artificial’. Directed by Luca Guadagnino, the movie dramatizes the turbulent period at OpenAI involving CEO Sam Altman, whom Garfield portrays.

Garfield indicated that researching the rapid advancement of AI and its potential societal consequences led him to reconsider his daily use of such technology. During an appearance on ‘The Daily Show’, Garfield discussed the role and touched upon themes of community and healing, noting that many people are acting out unconscious wounds.

The film, which focuses on the history of OpenAI, was originally dropped by Amazon MGM but has been picked up by Neon. It is scheduled for a limited theatrical release in the United States on Christmas Day following its premiere at the New York Film Festival.
