Garfield described his screen time notifications as ‘horrific’, noting that the platforms are designed to exploit human impulses. He shared that his personal interests on the app include ‘weird ceramics’ and the work of Japanese craftspeople. To manage his usage, he suggested that leaving a phone in a different room is an effective way to reduce screen time.
