Prior to the match, Johns revealed he had been offered the option to skip his commentary duties to experience the club’s first Grand Final appearance in 25 years as a supporter. He ultimately chose to fulfill his professional obligations despite feeling significant nerves. Johns praised the Knights' performance, describing the players as “super human” and expressing immense pride in the team and captain Kalyn Ponga.
