Andrew Luster released from prison under strict conditions

Andrew Luster, the Max Factor heir convicted of 86 counts of rape, has been released from prison. Now 62, Luster is residing in a bungalow in Glendora, located approximately 25 miles north of downtown Los Angeles.

His release is subject to several stringent legal requirements, including three years of parole and the mandatory use of a GPS ankle monitor. He has been issued a lifetime ban from Ventura County and is prohibited from coming within 35 miles of the residences of his victims. These restrictions have placed his current residence in eastern Los Angeles County, away from Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.

Luster was originally sentenced to 124 years in 2003 after being apprehended by Duane ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’ Chapman following a period of flight to Mexico. His sentence was later reduced to 50 years in 2013 due to a legal technicality regarding consecutive prison terms. His early release was further influenced by Proposition 57, a 2016 rule change requiring non-violent offenders to serve half of their sentences.
