Andrew Moloney pursues super flyweight title unification in Japan

IBF super flyweight champion Andrew Moloney is in advanced negotiations for a unification bout in Japan. The potential fight would see Moloney face South Africa’s WBC title-holder Ricardo Malajika to unify their respective belts.

Discussions are currently underway with Teiken Promotions, with the bout likely to take place in Tokyo before the end of the year. The move follows a period of movement in the division, including former undisputed champion Jesse Rodriguez moving up in weight, creating an opportunity for a new unified king in the super flyweight class.

Moloney, who holds a professional record of 29 wins and 4 losses, aims to join an elite group of Australian boxers, including Lionel Rose and Kostya Tszyu, who have achieved unified world champion status.
