Andrew Mountbatten‑Windsor’s trade‑envoy emails sent to Buckingham Palace in 2020

A cache of about 30,000 emails from a personal business contact of Andrew Mountbatten‑Windsor was handed to the Lord Chamberlain in May 2020. The archive, dating back to June 2013, was taken from the account of British businessman Jonathan Rowland and delivered to Buckingham Palace officials.

The emails are linked to investigations into Mountbatten‑Windsor’s conduct as a former UK trade envoy (2001‑2011). Police are probing allegations that he passed confidential government information to financier Jeffrey Epstein and that he may have engaged in sexual misconduct. He was arrested on his 66th birthday on suspicion of misconduct in public office. The Crown’s spokesperson said comment was not possible due to the ongoing police enquiry.
