Andrew Rannells discusses past romance with Anderson Cooper

Actor Andrew Rannells has shared details regarding a brief, intermittent romance he had with journalist Anderson Cooper over two decades ago. Speaking on the ‘OMG Obsessed’ podcast, Rannells described the relationship as lasting approximately nine months during a period when he was 25 years old and performing in Hairspray on Broadway.

Rannells noted that while the relationship spanned several months, the actual number of meetings was relatively low. He recalled being impressed by Cooper’s lifestyle at the time, specifically mentioning receiving calls from Cooper via satellite phone while the journalist was traveling, sometimes with the sound of helicopters in the background.

Reflecting on the experience with humor, Rannells admitted that as a young person, he interpreted the gestures as signs of deep connection, though he now views the situation with more perspective regarding the casual nature of their interactions.
